Importing GPS data in to a GIS

There are two main steps that you must take when getting GPS data into a GIS program:

1. moving the data from the GPS unit to the computer, and
2. importing the data file into the GIS program.

Moving the data from the GPS unit usually requires a cable to connect the unit and the computer as well as software to perform the transfer. The following links will help you with both. Specific data is only available for the Garmin GPS unit.
