Space Map is a new state of the art project to allow for users
to manipulate remote sensing images over the web. These kinds
of manipulations are currently only possible through the use
of very expensive desktop software packages. The prohibitive
cost of these packages places remote sensing tools out of reach
of many people. With Space Map we will be able to allow K-12
educational systems, and other groups such as conservation
and watershed groups, to have the same abilities now only available
at the university level.
The Penn State Cooperative Extension, Geospatial Technology Program (GTP) Land Analysis Lab is a research,
cooperative extension, and teaching program in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University.
We specialize in the use of GIS and related advanced information system technologies for environmental assessment, agriculture,
and land management and planning.
